For years, people have been talking about bringing the lonely Star Trek: The Animated Series to high-definition Blu-ray following its sister series’ upgrade to HD back in 2009 – and we were even hearing rumblings about the show’s future back in 2013 when the Next Generation remastering project was in full swing.
While the rumors had gone silent for quite a while, hopes were raised once more today as The Digital Bits is reporting that The Animated Series is coming to Blu-ray at long last before the end of this year.
We are extremely happy to learn of this additional visit to the Trek television catalog, and while we don’t have more information yet to report — we’re reaching out to our contacts for details — we’ll certainly keep you all appraised as we get closer to this unexpected new release!
