New STAR TREK BEYOND Title Graphic Revealed?

˙

˙

˙

To date, there’s only been one official design of the STAR TREK BEYOND title artwork used so far, and we’ve got it posted right here at the top of this article.

From the first teaser trailer released back in December, to the various preliminary poster designs featured at last week’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, the classic Trek font has been used consistently to brand this July’s upcoming film.  The official film website duplicates the same graphic seen above.

This week, however, a glimpse of what may be the in-movie STAR TREK BEYOND title card may have made its way onto the web, by way of the Burbank-based Digital Vortechs post-production house.

Digital Vortechs, a high-end editing services company that has worked with the post-production teams of such recent blockbusters as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Hateful Eight, and The Martian — as well as Bad Robot’s first Star Trek film in 2009, plus many Bad Robot television productions — posted the following photo to their social media channels Thursday night:

You may be asking why our speculation leads us to believe that this frame may be from the actual BEYOND film, and not from the next trailer coming in May: because it seems very unusual that the logo used for the film in marketing is going to change with such a short time left in the promotional window ahead of the movie’s release. The first trailer was put together by entertainment marketing company AV Squad, and our expectation that the same group (or one of a similar nature) will be completing the May 20 trailer.

Additionally, the likelihood that the film’s usage of the STAR TREK BEYOND wordmark is going to be a new design is extremely high. Just looking at the past several Trek films – and most films at large – the in-film title card is quite often different from the text seen in promotional trailers (which tends to remain consistent for brand-awareness purposes).

Here are just a few example comparison from the last year:

Of course, we freely admit that our speculation could end up being totally incorrect, and this is just a fancy placeholder for use at the Digital Vortechs facility with no relation to the next trailer or final film at all — but we’ll find out soon enough.
