Soundtrack label Varese Sarabande surprised us this week with the release of their latest two-disc deluxe Trek movie soundtrack: Michael Giacchino’s expanded STAR TREK BEYOND score!

The first soundtrack for this summer’s film was initially released back in July, but this Deluxe Edition includes a ton of new music from the movie!

From Varese Sarabande:

Continuing our series of Deluxe Editions of our Star Trek releases and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the entire Star Trek universe, we are excited to present Michael Giacchino’s epic STAR TREK BEYOND – now expanded for this 2-CD set Deluxe Edition. Featuring over two hours of music, this is the one everybody has been waiting for.

“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

It opened on July 22, 2016 and was immediately acclaimed as a thrilling action film. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin were all back. Luckily, so was Michael Giacchino! Idris Elba was a new addition as Krall.

  • Very good news and very pleased they did the extended pack. Michael Giacchino has done a brilliant job with the music in Beyond. Can’t wait to hear the full set of music. 🙂 _\//

    • Neil Kesler

I agree Gary ! Did you listen to TMP 3 disc collection by Jerry Goldsmith, that’s a hell of a score
I just took a drive to the San Rafael swells in Utah where Jimmy Bennett ( young Kirk ) is driving a car evading a cop
Glad I have an SUV! Great driving music especially Michael Giacchino he builds up the climax of the music
In the most recent feature film, Beyond when the Enterprise is arriving at Yorktown it’s absolutely breathtaking as my wonderful girlfriend said when she first saw the movie

      • Hi Neil. 🙂 Yeah, I do listened to that one and I feel in love with it. Your girlfriend has a really good taste than. That scene with the docking sequece and the ship is just breathtaking as you said.

Michael is a brilliant composer and he’s done many good music over the years, one of my personal favourite is UP for Disney…. but now Beyond overtook the position. 🙂 _\//

Hey Gary you know what’s funny I put the track of “the Enterprise ” from TMP on the girlfriends iPod last year when we were flying from Las Vegas to Maui and as we were on the escalator going on the upper level towards security checkpoint she didn’t realize that track was playing and she said this is amazing I feel like I’m on the Enterprise!
As I busted up laughing shaking my head, I told her honey you have your iPod on !

Each of the composers who did their work is all simply fantastic
I was 16 when Dennis McCarthy did generations and still love the tracks , main title, Christmas hug , and jumping the ravine

Christmas hug is perfect for especially this time of year

That being said I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas this year

          • Thank you Neil. 🙂 It’s funny enough but I used to have the same experience with Star Trek music. When I’m cycling I often listen a battle music like the one from First Contact, or for longer – and lonelier – rides usually some of the emotional themes. I think in this case we can safely say Star Trek is in our blood. 🙂

Marry Christmas to you and your family as well. LLAP _\//

Need this sooooo badly Giachhino’s themes in this film are amazing. Slightly less melodic than the last film but BEAUTIFUL nonetheless. It surprises me that none of the soundtracks to these films has been nominated for an oscar.

They should be given an award too in my opinion

Why not have just released this in the first place instead of me wasting money on the crap CD release in the summer. Always with the double-dip. It becomes insulting after awhile.
