Since the landmark announcement back in August that Patrick Stewart will be returning to the Star Trek fold in a new television series, we’ve been waiting with anticipation to learn more about the upcoming show, even as the team developing the new saga is building plans for its story.

A few weeks ago, writer/producer Michael Chabon hinted towards an in-universe time period of about 2399 for the new show — in alignment with Stewart’s comments in Las Vegas that the series would be set twenty years after Star Trek: Nemesis — but he was quick to point out on that Instagram post that no spoilers were contained in his playful hints.

Today on Twitter, star Patrick Stewart gave us our first look at the writing team behind the still-untitled Picard series, with the man himself at the head of the table — clearly a prominent voice in developing his long-awaited return to the Star Trek franchise.

L-R: Patrick Stewart, James Duff, Diandra Pendleton-Thompson, Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer.

In the room with Stewart is writer/executive producer James Duff, who joined the CBS Star Trek team in June, writers’ assistant Diandra Pendleton-Thompson, executive producer Akiva Goldsman, writer/executive producer Michael Chabon, and of course Kirsten Beyer, the Star Trek novelist-turned-Discovery writer who helped develop the concept for the Picard series.

The writers room has been up and running now for nearly a month — and we hope to learn more about the show soon.
